The Big Rep Meeting is coming up soon! Here is everything you need to know

This meeting is a chance for your course reps to feedback to wider university staff about your experience of a wide range of facilities and services outside of your course.

These are the topics we will be discussing this year: 

SPORTS FACILITIES - How could we improve your experience of sports and physical activity in Cornwall? 

The University of Exeter want to improve the experience and opportunities through sport and physical activity for the benefit of both Falmouth and Exeter students, what would improve your experience in Cornwall? As examples, the following programmes are offered at Exeter in Devon: 

  • Free activator led pitch up and play sports provisions. 

  • Better access to structured sports provision, e.g., BUCS leagues and events.  

  • Social sport leagues, administered by the University but for students to enter with groups of friends, course / house mates etc.   

  • Targeted opportunities – such as move your mood wellness provision, led walks, couch to 5k run programme, health referrals, self-defence classes etc.? 

  • Improved University facilities – please specify what University sports facilities, would make a difference for you? 

WELLBEING - How well communicated is information about your university mental wellbeing support services? 

  • Do you feel that you receive good information about mental wellbeing support?  

  • Which methods of communication do you prefer?  

  • How could mental wellbeing support improve their communication with you?  

ACCESSIBILITY - Do you know how to access accessibility services and how could you be better supported? 

  • How aware are you of what the accessibility services offer to students?  

  • Could you be better supported to understand or access these services?  

  • Could accessibility team improve communication with you?  

THE LIBRARY - How well does your library support you. 

  • Can you easily find the right library resources when you need them?  

  • Are there enough study spaces in the library and are they right for your needs?  

  • How have you found any support or teaching you have had from librarians?  

  • Any other experience of finding support through the library.  

EXETER CAREERS - How could your careers service be more accessible for all students? 

  • How could accessibility of events and services be ensured?  

  • How could students eligible for additional support be supported, including knowing they are eligible for support?  

FALMOUTH CAREERS - How would you like your careers service to engage with you? 

  • When should sessions be held?  

  • How can you be supported alongside your studies?  

  • Do you understand what the Falmouth careers service does?  

  • What other opportunities could they offer?  

  • Are there any employment topics that you would like to see offered across campus?  

If you're a rep: be sure to collect feedback from your course mates on these topics before attending! Check your emails for the specific time and location of the meeting and how to RSVP. 

If you're a student: check with your rep(s) whether they are able to attend the meeting and pass on your feedback. 

I'm a Rep - What can I expect from the Big Rep Meeting? 

The Big Rep Meeting is a chance for reps to discuss students' feedback on wider university services directly with the staff who can make those changes. 

The topics listed above will be split into separate tables, which will be attended by reps from both Falmouth University and the University of Exeter (except for the table on careers services, which will be split into two for each university!).
