Find out about how Charlotte Webster's goal is to qualify and represent the Cayman Islands at the PanAm Games in 2023!
My name is Charlotte Webster, and I grew up on a small island in the Caribbean, called Grand Cayman, and now I am in my first year at the University of Exeter studying Environmental Science. I first started sailing at age 5 and at age 10 I won my first regatta. At 12 I took 3rd place at the Bahamas Optimist National Championships. Last year I was 2nd place female in both North American (NAMS) and British National Championships in ILCA 4. I competed at the 2021 and 2022 Youth Sailing World Championships and this summer I was 1st female U19 and the British Championships in ILCA 6.Most recently I competed at Eurilca Senior European Championships in November 2022, my first ever senior event.
My short term goal is to qualify and represent the Cayman Islands at the PanAm Games in 2023. I also would like to break into World Sailing top 100 for ILCA 6 female through regular competition (my best is top 120). As I continue regular elite training and competition to develop skills and improve results, I hope to earn a selection spot for the 2023 World Sailing Championships to represent the Cayman Islands once again in the Hague in the Netherlands. And of course, my long term goal is to earn a qualifying place for the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.
