Buddy-up fortnight came and went in a flash.
Spending two weeks under Charlotte’s wing learning about the active discussions concerning welfare and diversity happening throughout the University of Exeter, Falmouth University, The SU and FXPlus has made me super excited to get stuck in. It will be sad saying goodbye to Charlotte because I have gotten to known her so well in the past two years of my involvement with the SU, but she has given me so much advice and confidence with going forward.
I’ve been introduced to so many new people who will be key contacts for making my manifesto a reality. Getting to know the people I will be working day-to-day with has been such a crucial experience because I’m starting to get familiar with the support network that the Students’ Union offers to us presidents. In turn, this means I can be best equipped to support you, the students!
If you come in and visit the office, you might notice that we have had a tidy and a rearrange. We found many an interesting item whilst cleaning - lots of miscellaneous craft supplies and … interesting items from previous Sexhibition events. Both Charlotte and I re-potted the plants, and I am certainly an advocate for getting more greenery into the SU space! We rearranged the furniture so hopefully the office feels a little less intimidating to come in and chat – I definitely want students to feel welcomed into the SU spaces and can attest that the sofa in the office is very comfy.
Over the coming weeks I will be finding my feet and clarifying my manifesto priorities so that I can get started on delivering on those to the student body!
