The aim of LGBTQ+ History Month is to promote equality, diversity, and inclusivity, by celebrating the lives and championing the work of key LGBTQ+ activists.
"Hey, I'm Orestis, your Vice President for this academic year! As we kick off LGBTQ+ History month, I wanted to share a bit of my journey with you. I grew up in Athens, Greece, & I always knew I was gay, but being labelled as "different" made it tough to embrace my true self.
Moving to England though has been life changing! Here, I feel safe and represented. It's a reminder of how crucial it is to create spaces where everyone can explore their identity freely.
So, let's take a moment to reflect on our own journeys. Embrace your achievements, celebrate how far you've come, and remember, our rights were hard-fought by incredible people. Let's be proud, always!
If you ever need a chat, you know where to find me.
Thank you."
