Read an update from Jadelle on what she's been working on to support your university experience.
University Mental Health Charter (UMHC)
I’ve been working on the UMHC report, using insights from focus groups with student representatives during the last study block. These discussions highlighted both the university’s strengths and areas where we can do more to support student mental health and well-being. We’ve identified actionable steps and are already in talks with key teams and departments to explore improvements based on your feedback. Together, we’re committed to creating a healthier, more supportive environment for all students—both now and for the future.
Hygiene Station
Before Christmas, a hygiene station was introduced in the SU on Penryn Campus, and the response was fantastic! It’s been great to see how much it’s helped students, and I'm excited to announce that we’ll be setting up a similar station on Falmouth Campus very soon. These stations are here to make life a little easier—offering free essentials to support your well-being. Keep an eye out for updates, and let us know what you think once it’s live!
Board of Governors and Academic Board
As your Student Governor, I’ve been representing you on the Board of Governors and the Academic Board. Being in these spaces is so important because it gives me the chance to share your feedback, ideas, and concerns directly with decision-makers. Through my reports, I ensure your voice is heard at the highest levels—because your experiences truly shape the future of our university.
Presenting our Financial Information
Vice President Marketa Carruthers and I have been teaming up with Rob Holmes, Executive Director of Finance, Audit & Risk, to make it easier for you to see exactly how your fees are being used by the Students' Union (SU) and the university. We’re working on creating clear and accessible ways—like detailed reports, infographics, and interactive tools—to break down the numbers and show you where your money goes. This is all about building trust, accountability, and making sure you feel confident in how fees are spent.
CoLab
Exciting news about CoLab! Kayleigh Hardy (Head of Engagement) and I have been working on the next steps for this initiative, using feedback from the Big Rep Meeting to shape a vision that truly reflects what students want and need. The CoLab website is live on the SU site, and we’ve already had some projects uploaded! This is just the beginning. We’ll be actively promoting CoLab across our platforms to highlight all the amazing projects you’re a part of. Got a creative idea or need collaborators? CoLab is here to help make it happen.
