Please find below a final update from your Vice President 23/24, Orestis Collins-Alamanos.
I’m Orestis, wrapping up my term as Vice President for 2023-2024, and I want to share some reflections with you. This year has flown by, and I owe a huge debt of gratitude to each of you for your support and collaboration. When I stepped into this role, I'll admit I wasn't fully tuned into The SU's potential. However, my focus swiftly shifted towards championing your wellbeing, supporting international students, advocating for LGBTQ+ rights, and fostering student engagement with the union.
Since September, I've been busy assisting international students in organizing events and establishing networks for marginalized groups across our campuses. In October, after listening to your input, I collaborated with our well-being services to create a comprehensive poster detailing all available resources.
From day one, I've been pushing Falmouth University to enhance support for Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) initiatives and to improve the international student experience. And let's not overlook the tremendous success of the Gender Expression Fund.
This year has been both rewarding and filled with its fair share of challenges. However, one standout moment for me was the impactful wheelchair campaign. As I prepare to depart Cornwall for new adventures, I'm excited to take my advocacy for human rights to a global stage.
Thank you all for your unwavering support throughout this journey.
Lots of love,
