Falmouth and Exeter Students’ Union (FXU) is home to three football teams, all of which have competed to incredible success this year.
CSM (Camborne School of Mines) Football Club have had an outstanding season, culminating in a Trelawny Premier League Title. They lost just one game in their first term and had a string of successes at the start of the year in the lead up to Bottle Match (a varsity match between Royal School of Mines and CSM). A disappointing score there didn’t hold them back as they achieved victory after victory in the run up to Easter. They ended this streak with a 2-1 victory against Lizard Argyle, which won them the title with five games to spare.
Toby Purvis, CSM Football Captain: "It has been a fantastic season with a talented and hard working group of lads; they deserve all of the plaudits they receive. I couldn't have asked for a better way to end my three years here."
This comes just weeks after FX Union Football Club won the West Cornwall Sunday League and League Cup and Tremough FC won the Peter Hickey Cup.
Hayley Curtis, FXU Sports Manager: “I’m so pleased that our football teams have been so successful this year. So many of our sports clubs have competed strongly – we’re going to need a bigger trophy cabinet!”
