The SU is currently planning the delivery of a bold and celebratory Black History Month that will be felt by the entire student community.
Throughout October, students will have the opportunity to participate in a wide variety of activities that celebrate Black history, culture and achievement. From creative workshops to anti-racist discussion forums, to film screenings, focus groups and pop ups – there are a multitude of ways students can join in.
As a previous photography student my initial idea was for the SU to put on a showcase featuring student projects with the purpose of showcasing and amplify the works and stories of our BIPOC students and the wider community.
The brief
The SU has provisions to have a rolling showcase across the digital screens all over campus for October.
We’re asking students from all backgrounds to submit work for this showcase, should you feel it is relevant to the celebrations of Black History Month.
All you need to do is WeTransfer your work to the SU Comms team at comms@thesu.org.uk.
Provide us with the title of your work, any captioning you feel necessary and your socials/ website info so we can ensure you’re getting the deserved exposure across Penryn and Falmouth Campuses This work will also be promoted all across the SU’s social channels and website.
The deadline
You can submit work from today!
The earlier we get submissions the longer your work will be able to be showcased across campus.
An ideal deadline to get the most screentime would be the week of the 26th of September but we will be accepting submissions right up until the end of the first week of October.
Through this month we hope to incite dialogue, provide opportunities for social connection, and to highlight and empower an underrepresented community on our campuses.
