Where to find a little sparkle for the holidays

Cornish Christmas Lights

Our Three Favourite Cornish Christmas Lights

December can be a challenging month for students. With early sunsets, looming deadlines, and preparations for the holidays, it's easy to feel overwhelmed. But if you're searching for a way to brighten your evenings, Cornwall offers some magical Christmas lights that are well worth a visit. Here are our top three picks to add a little sparkle to your festive season.

1. Mousehole Harbour Lights

A Cornish Christmas isn’t complete without a trip to see the Mousehole Harbour Lights. This iconic display transforms the quaint village into a glowing wonderland. The lights adorn not just the cottages and quayside but extend to the harbour, hillside, and even out to St Clement’s Isle. Expect traditional festive symbols alongside whimsical designs, including a whale and a serpent in the harbour. Don’t miss the massive "Merry Christmas / Happy New Year" sign perched on the hillside. These captivating lights are on display from 12th December to 5th January, making them a must-see for locals and visitors alike.

2. Angarrack Twelve Days of Christmas Lights

For a festive tradition steeped in community spirit, head to Angarrack. This small village puts on an extraordinary show inspired by the "Twelve Days of Christmas." Unique light installations illustrate everything from drummers drumming to swans a-swimming. This beloved display runs from 1st December to 5th January, offering plenty of time to take in the magic.

3. Falmouth Christmas Lights

We couldn’t complete our list without mentioning Falmouth’s own Christmas lights! The town comes alive with twinkling displays, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. Grab a hot chocolate, bundle up in your coziest layers, and take a leisurely stroll through the illuminated streets. The lights are a perfect excuse to explore the town, soak in the festive vibes, and support local businesses.

Plan Your Visit

Cornwall’s Christmas light displays are more than just decorations; they’re an invitation to pause, enjoy, and celebrate the season. Whether you’re a local or a visitor, these dazzling displays are sure to lift your spirits and add a touch of magic to your holiday.
