St. Agnes (Meet on Campus)

About the event
Our first fieldtrip of the year will be to the Blue Hills Tin Streams, for a tour of their alluvial tin mining works! Tours are no longer run for the public so this is a great opportunity to see how tin is still artisinally mined and processed locally. Afterwards, we plan to hang around St Agnes for a walk along the beach to see some of the excellent coastal exposures (and maybe stop for a pint...), then onto the spoil heaps at Tywarnhayle for some mineral prospecting - said to contain abundant pyrite, chalcopyrite, and quartz!
The latter half of the trip will be weather dependant, however will still go ahead in drizzle so make sure to bring waterproofs!
The trip will run on Saturday 7th December, more info on timings below.

The cost of the tour is £10, however if you are willing to care share we will cover the cost of your ticket so instead of buying one, contact ljc243@exeter.ac.uk so we can set you up with other members.

Tickets have very limited availability so make sure to buy them early if you'd like to come!
