Social Football World Cup

About the event

Celebrate diversity through football by taking part in the Social Football World Cup. This 8-team 6-a-side tournament is open to all students and staff and all backgrounds and abilities are encouraged to register. The main aim of this tournament is to recognise the diverse cultures we have on campus, by bringing people together in a celebration of sport.

There will be a get together after the tournament finishes at 18:00 in the Stannary Bar for everyone who participated to drop in for a post-tournament drink.

What is the key accessibility information?

There is the potential for some loud noise as this is a sporting event and we are expecting people to attend to cheer on their friends. There won’t be large crowds, but small groups are expected in the area, made up of participants. The nearest quiet spaces will be the Library Retreat Room, the SU and chaplaincy. If you have a problem, you should notify one of the event organisers present (identifiable by their staff lanyards and wearing bright coloured bibs). As this is an outdoor event, the nearest disabled access facilities are situated in the Peter Lanyon East building, more information can be found here: Peter Lanyon East | AccessAble.

Who is running the event?

This event is being run by Dan from the University of Exeter, Student Voice and Change Team and Richard from the Languages Team.

Where is the event taking place?

The event is taking place on the MUGA (Multi Use Games Area) at Penryn Campus, which is situated between Car Park A and Glasney Student Village. A volunteer will be at the Penryn Campus Bus Stop to direct you at 12:45 pm on the day. We will also have signs directing you to the MUGA.

What should I expect?

At this event, there will be people taking part in sporting activity and friends/participants on the sidelines supporting their peers. Attendees must have completed a registration form to participate. Football is a physical activity, and involvement will carry risks. By completing the form, you confirm that you are happy to get involved, and whilst the organisers will implement guidelines, they cannot be held responsible for injury during the game.  We have plans in place for if the space becomes too busy.

There will be a member of staff present to support the event and answer your questions. There will be photography at this event that will be used for marketing, please speak to the member of staff if you don’t want your photo taken.

This event is for students and staff of Falmouth University, the University of Exeter Cornwall, the SU and FX Plus.
