Country Dancing

Country Dancing is a fun and easy to learn form of dance. There is no skill or prior knowledge required, only enthusiam as this is a very high energy type of dancing!

While we will teach a variety of dances of differeing styles at our sessions, we focus primarily on British country dancing, or Ceilidh dancing. This kind of dancing is very social, there's lots of partner and group work, so it's a great opportunity to meet new people and make some friends.

Ceilidh is a Gaelic word, referring a social gathering or a party, usually with music and dancing. If you've ever attended a Burns Night celeration then you may have been part of, or witnessed, a ceilidh. In addition to our aim to teach our members a new skill and help students find friends suring their time in Falmouth, we hope to do a bit of cultural preservation by keeping these dances alive.
