In an age where freedom and progress are increasingly under threat by extremist figures, organisations and governments, it may seem as if the fight for democratic progressive politics is faltering.

At the Progressive Society, our aim is to fight for the democratic left, and to ensure that students have adequate representation in both that field, as well as at Exeter in Penryn and Falmouth University.

Our membership is made up of social liberals, market liberals, social democrats, democratic socialists and environmentalists who seek the betterment of society not by force or oppression, but by the protection of freedoms and the provision of welfare for all those need them.

The right to freedom of speech, to a welfare state, to a clean planet and to a democratic system are the cornerstones of our cause. We choose kindess over hatred, hope over fear and liberty over coercion.

Our events will include discussions and debates, speeches, rallies and guest speakers as we seek to both understand and promote the progressive cause.

Charity Winter Ball at Palacio Lounge: 22nd November; Palacio Lounge, Falmouth; Come join us this November as we host a charity event at Palacio Lounge in Falmouth! All profits will go to St Petrocs!
